In the last ORANZ council meeting a motion was passed in regard to class 7 and “under age drivers” in forestry events.

An issue was identified that class 7 competitors can be as young as 12 years old. The issue is that when it comes to forestry events, competitors under the age of 15 years are not by default allowed to compete but may apply for dispensation at the discretion of the “chief steward”.

As some of the national rounds can include forestry events it could give a unfair advantage to some competitors and is something the ORANZ committee felt needs to be addressed.

The ORANZ committee voted and passed a motion to give all class 7 competitors (competing or non competing) 25 points for forestry events enabling a level playing field for all of the class 7 competitors.
