Woodhill next year will be part of the North Island National round but will still be running on Queens Birthday weekend as per normal. The location of the main event will be shifting to the south end of the forest allowing better access for spectators check out the action.

The current sprint track pits used on Saturday’s time trial is to be used as the new location for the main event. The new event location will mean that the new track will be 50% gravel and 50% sand which should make for a far higher speed event.

The Auckland Offroad club have welcomed the move and also have extended the relationship with local IWI to allow the event to become more financially viable. The intention is for IWI to have a facility for the “after match function” allowing them to maximise on the opportunity that the popular event creates.

From a fellow competitor perspective this may remove some of the rough “cut up” terrain seen in recent Woodhill events and also guarantees the future of this iconic event.
